The Master of Politics and International Relations program was established by Istanbul Altınbaş University with the aim to educate national and global leaders of the future equipped with a strong intellectual background in the field of international relations, create and disseminate knowledge, and serve its constituents and the society at large in an international academic environment fostering integrity, respect and participation.

Aim

  • The Politics and International Relations Non-Thesis Master's program aims to create leaders who can engage in active public debate and engage in critical analysis of the complicated nature of politics. The objective of our program is to assist students in developing a deeper understanding of the theories and concepts necessary to enable them to analyze significant political science and international relations events and occurrences using scientific methods as well as to assist them in working within these theories and concepts.
Objective

  • Our educational program strives to mold students into professionals who, via their knowledge in their chosen disciplines and communication abilities, would benefit society. One of the program's goals is to equip students with the abilities they need to function effectively and responsibly in non-governmental organizations, public institutions, and business organizations on a national and international level. Students can select from a number of optional courses in our curriculum based on their interests, enabling them to concentrate on the subject of their choice.

Students who complete this program successfully are granted a Master of Politics and International Relations Degree in International Relations.

Specific Admission Requirements

Enrollment of students in programs at Master’s degree levels in Turkey is done according to the results of a centrally organized academic exam (ALES) according to the Higher Education Act. Students are selected according to their ALES scores and their overall performance in Undergraduate studies. Having a recognised English test qualification from an approved test centre is also necessary for admission to a Master program taught in English.

Specific Arrangements For Recognition Of Prior Learning (Formal, Non-Formal and Informal)

Recognition of prior learning is subject to the framework bylaws at national level set by Council of Higher Education and to the related bylaws of Istanbul Altınbaş University. Transfer of students among programs within the university is done according to quotas determined by the executive councils of the respective schools.

Profile of the Programme

The Master of Politics and International Relations program of Istanbul Altınbaş University carries out a postgraduate program to educate its students as innovative and entrepreneurial graduates in their field with advanced knowledge and communication skills. Students meet with the leading academics and professionals in the field and increase their experience through international and national activities, seminars, conferences and elective courses. They also develop their analytical and research skills on various themes of interest such as foreign policy analysis, nationalism and political parties by completing a project or a dissertation.

Occupational Profiles of Graduates With Examples

The graduates of this program work as international relations experts in the public sector –such as theMinistry of Foreign Affairs or the Ministry for European Union Affairs– and in the private sector, including banking, media, research institutes, civil society organizations and in various departments of private companies (such as Human Resources Department), among others. The graduates of this program are equipped with fundamental and technical knowledge and communication skills, foreign language skills, teamwork skills in order to be able to work in these areas.

Access to Further Studies

Students who graduate from this program may apply for studying at programs at PhD level.
