Istanbul Altınbaş University Industrial Engineering Master´s Program was established at the beginning of 2016-17 academic year.

Aim

  • Industrial Engineering Graduate Program is used in various sectors that produce products, services or services at national and international levels in a global competitive environment; To train industrial engineers who can plan and analyze, develop and apply current and sustainable technologies such as Artificial Intelligence and Industry 4.0, identify problems in existing systems and produce solutions to reach conclusions, carry out academic studies in research institutions and take part in interdisciplinary R&D or social responsibility projects. purposes.
Objective

  • 1. To teach advanced basic sciences required by the basic field of engineering. 2. To have the analysis and design of industrial systems carried out and implemented. 3. To gain the competence to produce algorithmic solutions to problems with analytical thinking. 4. To gain and develop the ability to renew professional knowledge by following national and international developments regarding industrial engineering. 5. To learn to take responsibility and/or authority in individual and team work and to fulfill their requirements. 6. To gain oral and written technical expression competence in one's native language and in foreign languages ​​required by one's profession. 7. To promote awareness of social responsibility and the ethical principles and values ​​of the industrial engineering profession.

Students who complete this program successfully are granted Master of Science Degree in Industrial Engineering.

Specific Admission Requirements

Enrollment of students in programs at master’s and PhD degree levels in Turkey is done according to the results of centrally organized ALES exam, the performance (grades) of the applicant at undergraduate study, and the results of the interview made with the applicant according to the Higher Education Act. Enrollment of students in programs at master’s and PhD degree levels is not subject to a centrally managed process but is done by the respective university itself.

Specific Arrangements For Recognition Of Prior Learning (Formal, Non-Formal and Informal)

Recognition of prior learning is subject to the framework bylaws at national level set by Council of Higher Education and to the related bylaws of Istanbul Altınbaş University. Transfer of students among programs within the university or from a program at other university is done according to quotas determined by the executive councils of the relavant schools. Courses to be transfered for students transfered among programs within the university or from a program at other university are determined by the relevant school executive board. Courses at enrolled another instution prior to enrolling at Istanbul Altınbaş University are considered for transfer on a course basis even if the student is not a transfer student.

Qualification Requirements and Regulations

The program competencies are: 1. The student improves on theoretical and practical skills acquired in the undergraduate period. 2. The student can utilize new solution approaches in problems with an interdisciplinary scope and related with the field. 3. The student can adapt lifelong learning practices as part of his personal development. 4. The student can develop and implement a solution based on scientific knowledge learned in the graduate program on industrial engineering problems in his specialty area. 5. The student can assume business professional roles in national and international platforms. 6. The student can interpret knowledge in his specialty area and makes its synthesis with knowledge from different areas related to other similar disciplines. 7. The student has the proficiency to apply theoretical and practical knowledge to business problems that he may encounter. 8. The student has the proficiency to evaluate and criticize approaches developed either to establish new businesses or to improve the existing ones across the nation. 9. The student can adapt related solution approaches to solve an academic research problem, complete such a study on his own and reach conclusions based on his specialty area. 10. The student is equipped with computer and other practical skills pertaining to his area of specialty. 11. The student has the proficiency to learn, conduct an independent study, collaborate on projects and communicate results. Students registered with thesis program must complete 120 ECTS credits including thesis whereas the students enrolled in the non-thesis program must complete 90 ECTS. Students who satisfy these requirements are entitled to the Master of Science Degree in the field of Industrial Engineering.

Profile of the Programme

This Master of Science degree in Industrial Engineering is offered by the Department of Industrial Engineering at the School of Engineering and Natural Sciences at Istanbul Altınbaş University. The main aim of the this program is to train professionals with expertise on a new system design and the improvement of existing systems as well as on analytical decision making methodologies that help companies make strategic decisions. This program also seeks to fulfill a nationwide need to expand the pool of educated personnel who could offer good solutions to real industry problems. Students at the Department of Industrial Engineering at the School of Engineering and Natural Sciences at Istanbul Altınbaş University meet with the realities of the business world and meet with the leading academicians and professionals in the field and gain from their experience. For this purpose, the courses are taught in the areas of basic mathematics and science, probability and statistics, optimization, simulation, random modeling, production planning, manufacturing methods, quality, supply chains, service systems and engineering economics. Courses are supported by modern educational tools. As of 2016-2017, education and research activities are being carried out by 1 associate professor, 3 assistant professors and 1 research assistant. The Department of Industrial Engineering; with its qualified and experienced academic and technical staff and research facilities serves the public at large in cooperation with public and private sector organizations in local, regional, national and international scale.

Occupational Profiles of Graduates With Examples

The graduates of this program work as industrial engineers in the public and the private sectors as well as in academia. The graduates of this program are equipped with fundamental and technical knowledge and communication skills, foreign language skills, teamwork skills in order to be able to work in these sectors/areas.

Access to Further Studies

Students who gradute from this program may apply for studying in programs at Ph.D. level.

Graduation Requirements

In order to graduate from this program, the student must successfully complete all courses. This degree is awarded to students who successfully completed all the courses in the program, earned a minimum of 120 ECTS credits under the thesis option and a minimum of 90 ECTS credits under the non-thesis option with a GPA of at least 3.00 out of 4.00.
