Specific Arrangements For Recognition Of Prior Learning (Formal, Non-Formal and Informal)

Recognition of prior learning is one of the most important features of the Turkish Education System. Candidates who are accepted to their university by the ÖSYS exam, enroll with their high school diplomas. Newly enrolled students, if successful, can be exempted from some mandatory language courses by entering the foreign language proficiency exam given by our university. Candidates who hold an associate degree can be placed in a BA program that is a continuation of their previous program according to their scores on Vertical Transfer Exam (DGS) administered by the Student Selection and Placement Centre (ÖSYM). Such candidates’ previous grades from their successful completion of the courses they have taken that are considered to be equivalent by the university are transferred without regards to their transcript of records and grade point average. Then, based on the credits of the transferred courses, the courses in their new program are determined. İstanbul Altınbaş University accepts students of inter and intra-university transfer between identical academic programs with reference to “The Regulation of Inter-university Transfer in Associate and BA degree programs, Double major, Minor, and Inter-university Credit Transfer”, and by the candidates’ score from the central placement exam administered by ÖSYM in accordance with the rules and regulations set by the University Senate.
