ORTHODONTICS (Turkish-Master's Thesis)

The Orthodontic Master Programme was established in 2017.

Aim

  • The aim of the program is; to train inquisitive and researcher orthodontic doctors who have the necessary knowledge, skills and attitudes regarding the diagnosis and treatment of patients with malocclusions in tooth alignment, occlusion, skeletal structures of the jaws and temporomandibular joint musculoskeletal system, and who follow the current developments in the field on a national and international platform. It is aimed to provide knowledge about the diagnosis and necessity of orthodontic treatment, to create a treatment plan using removable and fixed appliances, and to provide temporomandibular joint, occlusion and a general orthodontic view, thus providing students with the ability to make an appropriate diagnosis using their current knowledge.
Objective

  • Program aims to train inquisitive and researcher orthodontic doctors who follow current developments on national and international platforms and to provide knowledge about the diagnosis and necessity of orthodontic treatment, thus providing students with the ability to make appropriate diagnoses and plan treatment using their current knowledge.

The graduates who have successfully completed this program are Orthodontists / MSc is awarded.

Specific Admission Requirements

Programme student acceptance and registration principles are explained in detail under the title of "Second Section - Application and Acceptance" in "Istanbul Altinbas University Graduate Education and Training Regulation" published in the Official Newspaper No. 29952. In summary; • Foreign students graduated from the countries’ Dentistry Faculty other than Turkey. • Written, verbal and foreign language tests to be carried out in the Orthodontics Department of the applicants must pass "Successful".

Qualification Requirements and Regulations

Qualification requirements and regulations are explained in detail under the title of "Third Section – Qualification exam" in "Istanbul Altınbaş University Graduate Education and Training Regulation" published in the Official Newspaper No. 29952. The first four semesters of Orthodontics PhD education consist of theoretical and practical courses. Students who successfully complete these courses enter the doctoral qualification examination consisting of two parts, written and oral, at the end of the fourth semester. If the student is successful in this examination, the thesis proposal should be submitted to the thesis supervision committee within 6 months at the latest. If the thesis proposal is accepted, the Institute of Health Sciences is informed of the establishment. The thesis work is monitored by the Thesis Monitoring Committee. The student is obliged to perform doctoral thesis study which will last 4 semesters after the doctoral qualification examination. The student in the Ph.D. program writes the results in accordance with the rules of writing accepted by the Senate and defends his thesis verbally in front of the jury. Orthodontics In order to get doctorate degree, the student must complete at least 240 ECTS credits with a weighted average of at least 3.00 out of 4.00 and successfully complete thesis defense.

Profile of the Programme

The aims of the Orthodontics MSc program are; Training orthodontists who have the necessary knowledge, skills and attitudes related to diagnosis and treatment of patients with temporomandibular disorders, dental/skeletal malocclusions and training the doctors who are following up on the current and ongoing national and international developments in the field of orthodontics, interrogator and researcher.

Occupational Profiles of Graduates With Examples

The dentists graduated from the program can mostly work in private health institutions.

Access to Further Studies

Candidates who have successfully completed their master studies can continue their academic education as PhD.

Graduation Requirements

Successful completion of all courses in the program (total 132 ECTS credits) and having a weighted average of at least 3.00 out of 4.00 and successfully completing thesis presentation is a necessary condition for graduation.
