Aim

  • The aim of the program is to give depth and breadth to students in topics related to structural engineering, earthquake engineering, geotechnics, project and construction management, and hence equip them with knowledge and skills needed to carry out research and work in national and international projects which are not routine applications of everyday engineering problems.
Objective

  • The objective of the program is to support national and international researches and developments in the fields of structural engineering, earthquake engineering, geotechnics, project and construction management and to train well-equipped and specialized engineers in these areas based on his/her field of interest.

Level of Qualification

Master's Degree (non-thesis) in  CIVIL ENGINEERING is a two-year (4 semesters) program with 120 ECTS credits. The program meets the requirements both for ECTS credits and level descriptors of the "Second Cycle" degree qualifications of the Overarching Framework of European Qualifications Framework HE (QF-EHEA) and  the  "7th Level" qualifications of the Turkish Qualifications Framework for HE (TYYÇ, NQF-HETR), as well as the "7th Level" requirements of the qualifications of the European Qualifications Framework for Lifelong Learning (EQF-LLL) in terms of the level descriptors.

Profile of the Programme

Master's Degree Program in CIVIL ENGINEERING ("Second Cycle" in QF-EHEA and  "7th Level" in TYYÇ )  is an academically-oriented program giving access to degree and non-degree research programs and professional practice demanding advanced levels of knowledge, skills, and competencies. 

 

Occupational Profiles of Graduates With Examples

Civil engineers find employment as freelancers and civil servants in permanent positions in construction companies, public administration, engineering consultancies, transport companies, real estate markets, the construction materials industry, as well as in various interdisciplinary fields of study. Civil engineers work in teams and often coordinate collaboration between different disciplines.

Access to Further Studies

Students who graduated from non-thesis master's programs after 06.02.2013 do not have the right to apply for doctoral programs. However, they may apply for thesis-based master's programs provided they meet the requirements set by the Senate.

Graduation Requirements

In order to graduate from the 3 term master's program without a thesis, students must successfully complete 10 courses (compulsory and elective courses) and term project with 30 credits. The total number of courses and term project in the program is 90 ECTS. In order for the student to graduate, the GPA should be at least 2.00 / 4.00.
