Pharmaceutical Sciences Doctoral Program was established in 2014 and accepted first students in 2015-2016 academic year.

Aim

  • The aim of the program is to train the qualified specialists who are equipped with advanced technology and knowledge, follow the developments closely and adapt rapidly. Hence important tasks will be undertaken in educating the individuals who will provide this service to all relevant institutions aiming at providing health services worldwide. The sub-specialization of program are as follows; analytical chemistry, biochemistry, pharmacology, pharmaceutical chemistry, pharmaceutical technology.
Objective

  • It is the branch of science that investigates the scientific basis, industrial production and clinical application of synthetic and natural pharmaceutical active substances so that they can become medicines that can be administered to the patient. Courses and research include the development of conventional and controlled/modified release drug forms, new drug carrier systems, applications of biotechnology in drug research and development, bioavailability, bioequivalence, pharmacokinetics, dissolution determinations, industrial drug production, quality controls, shelf life and stability determinations, sterile drug production, It contains up-to-date information on good manufacturing practices, radiopharmaceuticals and similar subjects. This PhD program, which will contribute to the careers and development of students, is basically 4 years long, including 2 years of coursework and 2 years of thesis. The courses will be very useful especially for those who will attend from the Pharmaceutical industry and the courses are organized according to the students' free time. Priority is given to thesis topics that use current and new technologies based on problem solving. Care is taken to support theses with projects and it is aimed to provide students with experiences in this direction.

Specific Admission Requirements

The principles of admission and registration are explained in detail in the section titled "Third Part - Application and Admission" in the "Altınbaş University Regulations for Graduate Education" published in the Official Gazette No. 29952. Candidates who have successfully completed their undergraduate education in Pharmacy, Dentistry, Medicine or biology, chemistry, chemical engineering or relevant field are eligible to apply.

Specific Arrangements For Recognition Of Prior Learning (Formal, Non-Formal and Informal)

Candidates who have successfully completed their undergraduate education in Pharmacy, Dentistry or Medicine can directly apply to the doctorate program. Candidates who have graduated from other disciplines such as Biology, Chemical Engineering and Chemistry should hold a master's degree to be eligible to apply.

To earn the PhD degree, students must successfully complete a minimum of available courses in the program, a dissertation proposal and a dissertation. The students are required to successfully complete a min of 60 ECTS credits of all available courses in the program, proficiency exam, a dissertation proposal and a dissertation.

There are 10 faculty members in the Pharmaceutical Sciences PhD program. Doctoral candidates can choose from different research fields according to their interests. There are 5 research laboratories in the institute.
