PEDIATRIC DENTISTRY (Turkish-Master's Thesis)

The master program in Pediatric Dentistry was founded in 2017 and first graduates are expected to receive their degrees in 2019.

Aim

  • It is aimed to gain competence and competence in the field of Pediatric Dentistry and to develop clinical and basic research skills.
Objective

  • With theoretical and practical courses, it provides pediatric patients with the ability to complete oral and dental health treatments at the highest level by teaching and applying basic and advanced behavior guidance techniques. In addition to this, it aims to train dentists who follow scientific developments in the field of pediatric dentistry and understand the importance of lifelong education, aiming to provide the best oral and dental health service by providing ideal treatments for preventive dentistry practices and all dental treatments in pediatric patients.
Qualification Awarded

The graduates who successfully complete all courses in the curriculum will receive Masters of Science degree in pediatric dentistry .

Specific Admission Requirements

Admission requirements are described in detail under the heading “Student Admission” in the section titled “About Altınbaş University”. Candidates who have successfully completed their undergraduate education in Faculty of Dentistry are eligible to apply.

Specific Arrangements For Recognition Of Prior Learning (Formal, Non-Formal and Informal)

The prerequisites about the recognition of previous education (formal, informal, non-formal) as well as horizontal and vertical transitions are conducted within the content of “The regulations on the principles of transition between associate degree and license programs” which was approved by the Administrative Committee of Altınbaş University in accordance with the “The regulations of the Postgraduate education” of the Turkish Higher Education Council.

Qualification Requirements and Regulations

The prerequisites for graduation consists of successfully completion of all available courses in the program, a dissertation proposal and a dissertation. The program consists of a minimum of seven courses (equivalent to 120 ECTS credits), a seminar course and a thesis. The students are required to complete all the courses available in two years ( four semesters) and to receive a minimum average score of 3.00 out of 4.00.

Profile of the Programme

The graduates of our program will have deep knowledge of pediatric dentistry both theoretically and clinically, and they will be qualified to work in academic institutions or in the hospitals in the field of pediatric dentistry

Occupational Profiles of Graduates With Examples

The graduates of our program may be employed both in public and private sector as competent professionals of the branch of pediatric dentistry . While some of our graduates may provide community health service, some others may prefer to pursue an academic career.

Access to Further Studies

The graduates who succesfully complete the master program may apply for PhD programs in the future.

Facilities

There are currently one associate professor, one assistant professor and visiting professors in the Master program of Pediatric Dentistry. Altınbaş University, Faculty of Dentistry is located in Bakırköy Health Campus which consists of facilities for pre-clinic, clinic, pediatric patient care under sedation& general anesthesia and research activities. Patient care services are given in the Master’s clinic and general anesthesia operating rooms. There are biochemistry, microbiology, anatomy, pathology, physiology, chemistry, biological sciences and pharmoceutical technology research laboratories for research activities of students. There is also a library with a wide range of accessibility to both published and electronical data.
