COMPUTER ENGINEERING PROGRAMME (English)

Altınbaş University Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences Computer Engineering Undergraduate Program was established at the beginning of 2011-2012 academic year. Education language is English. The study at the department is scheduled to four years, excluding the first year for English preparation. Students who do not have sufficient knowledge of English attend the Preparatory Program offered by the School of Foreign Languages.

Specific Admission Requirements

Student acceptance of this program is based on exam results made by the Student Selection and Placement Centre (OSYM) within the framework set by the regulations of Higher Education Council. Foreign students are admitted to this programme according to the regulations of the Higher Education Council.

Specific Arrangements For Recognition Of Prior Learning (Formal, Non-Formal and Informal)

Recognition of prior formal learning National, vertical and horizontal transitions within the university are made according to the regulations of the Higher Education Council and the relevant regulations of Altınbaş University. In-house horizontal transfers are made within the quota determined by the board of directors. Quotas are determined by the relevant board of directors as a certain proportion of the student quota stipulated in the ÖSYM Guideline for each year announced. In-house transfer quotas are announced on the University's web page a certain time before the end of the final application along with the base score and the additional requirements foreseen. In order to apply for transfer applications between the same and different types of central placement points and diploma programs accepted by the students, the central placement score that the student wishes to pass as of the year in which the central exam takes place is equal to the diploma program equivalent to the diploma program. diploma programs should not be less than the minimum base point. Students who have successfully completed vocational high schools and open education associate degree programs can make a vertical transfer to undergraduate programs according to the results of the Vertical Transfer Exam organized by ÖSYM.

Qualification Requirements and Regulations

Students must obtain a grade point average of at least 2.00 out of 4.00 and successfully pass all courses in the programme, complete the internship for 40 work days in total and in the final year prepare a graduation project (equivalent to a total of 240 ECTS).

Profile of the Programme

The Computer Engineering Department has 5 year program including the first year for English preparation. After the Preparatory programme, the first three years of the undergraduate courses are common to all Computer Engineering students with the aim of preparing the student to choose an appropriate specialization option. The curriculum of the fourth year consists of free and area elective courses that allow students to focus on different areas and subjects of interest. Within the scope of the program, there are theoretical courses as well as practical lessons such as laboratory studies. In addition to this, students has to complete internships for 40 work days in total in their second and third years respectively. In the final year, students should prepare a graduation project based on the area of specialization they prefer, under the supervision of the department advisors.

Occupational Profiles of Graduates With Examples

Computer engineers may work in public enterprise and private companies. Graduates who have received the title of Computer Engineer may work actively in many areas such as IT, software, algorithms, communication, control systems, robotics.

Access to Further Studies

The graduates holding Bachelor’s Degree are eligible to apply to Master’s Degree programmes at national level and /or international level both in the same and in related disciplines.

Graduation Requirements

In order to graduate from this program, the student must successfully complete all courses. This degree is awarded to students who successfully completed all the courses in the program, completed the internship for 40 work days in total and in the final year prepared a graduation project (equivalent to a total of 240 ECTS), also obtained a GPA (grade point average) of at least 2.00 out of 4.00.

Facilities

In this program, electronic, digital systems, microprocessors, and computer laboratories provide practical information required for practical courses as well as the basic courses. The elective courses provide an interdisciplinary point of view to the students by specializing in the fields they want. Students can apply to minor and major degree programs to acquire expertise in different areas from their primary area of study. Altınbaş University has bilateral ERASMUS agreement with several prestigious universities in Europe. Thus, students can continue their education in a different country for six months or one year. In addition to this, CO-OP cooperative education program provides an opportunity for students to combine their education with their job experience before their graduation.
