INDUSTRIAL ENGINEERING PROGRAMME (English)

LEVEL: Bachelor's Degree, TYYÇ: Level 6, EQF-LLL: Level 6, QF-EHEA: First Cycle

Altınbaş University Industrial Engineering Undergraduate Program was established at the beginning of 2011-12 academic year. The first graduates of the program completed their degree requirements by the end of 2015-16 academic year. The medium of instruction is English.

Aim

  • This program is aim to train industrial engineers who can plan and analyze, develop and apply current and sustainable technologies such as Artificial Intelligence and Industry 4.0, find solutions to problems in existing systems, conduct academic studies in research institutions and take part in interdisciplinary RD projects.
Objective

  • 1. To teach the advanced level of science required by the basic field of engineering. 2. To have the analysis and design of industrial systems made. 3. To bring in the competence of generating algorithmic solutions to problems with analytical thinking. 4. To Following the national and international developments in industrial engineering to gain and develop the ability to renew professional knowledge. 5. To adopt to take responsibility and / or authority in individual and team works and to fulfill their requirements. 6. To gain the competence of oral and written technical expression in his native language and in foreign languages required by his profession. 7. To adopt social responsibility awareness and ethical principles and values of industrial engineering profession.
Qualification Awarded

Students who complete this program successfully are granted Bachelor Degree in Industrial Engineering.

Specific Admission Requirements

Enrollment of students in programs at Bachelor’s and vocational degree levels in Turley is done according to the results of centrally organized exam in Turkey accoring to the Higher Education Act. Center for Student Selection and Placement (OSYM) places students into programs they are willing to study according to their scores in the central placement exam and high school scores .

Specific Arrangements For Recognition Of Prior Learning (Formal, Non-Formal and Informal)

Recognition of prior learning is subject to the framework bylaws at national level set by Council of Higher Education and to the related bylaws of Altınbaş University. Transfer of students among programs within the university is done according to quotas determined by the executive councils of the relavant schools. Quotas are determined by the relevant executive councils as a percentage of the total quotas specified in OSYM Guide every year. Transfer quotas among programs within the university are announced at the university web page before a certain period of time from the application deadline together with minimum scores and other requirements. In order for application for transfer withing the university among programs of different central placement exam score types the score of the applicant in the central placement exam for the exam score type of the program to be applied should not be lower than the score of the student who is placed countrywide in a program of the same type with lowest score. Students who complete vocational school programs and the open university programs may apply for transfer horizontally to Bachelor’s programs. Students who are graduates of or who are at the last year at study of vocational schools at Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus and graduates of schools abroad whose equivalency is accepted in Turkey may apply for transfer horizontally to bachelor’s programs.

The program competencies are as follows: 1. An ability to apply knowledge of mathematics, science, and engineering. 2. An ability to design and conduct experiments, as well as to analyze and interpret data. 3. An ability to design a system, component, or process to meet desired needs within realistic constraints such as economic, environmental, social, political, ethical, health and safety, manufacturability, and sustainability. 4. An ability to function on multidisciplinary teams. 5. An ability to identify, formulate, and solve engineering problems. 6. An understanding of professional and ethical responsibility. 7. An ability to communicate effectively. 8. The broad education necessary to understand the impact of engineering solutions in a global, economic, environmental, and societal context. 9. A recognition of the need for, and an ability to engage in life-long learning. 10. A knowledge of contemporary issues. 11. An ability to use the techniques, skills, and modern engineering tools necessary for engineering practice. 12. An ability to design, develop, implement, and improve integrated systems that include people, materials, money, information, equipment and energy. 13. Possess the mathematical proficiency, analytical thinking, and knowledge of quantitative methods and experimental practices to develop, solve and analyze the results obtained from quantitative models of complex processes or systems. 14. Be able to take the lead in identifying industrial engineering problems in an organization, forming a multi-disciplinary team of professionals with relevant knowledge and skills, coordinating the team’s function, and delivering appropriate results and executive recommendations. 15. Posses an entrepreneurial spirit and leadership skills. Students who successfully complete this program earn a Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Engineering. In order to graduate from this program, the student must successfully complete all courses. This degree is awarded to students who have completed all the courses in this program as well as two summer internships for a total of 40 business days, who have a minimum of 240 ECTS credits and whose GPA is at least 2,00 / 4,00. Students are required to take two compulsory design courses in their senior year in order to graduate.

Profile of the Programme

The Department of Industrial Engineering at the School of Engineering and Natural Sciences at Altınbaş University aims to educate its students as innovative and entrepreneurial industrial engineers with their knowledge and communication skills in the field. Students at the Department of Industrial Engineering at the School of Engineering and Natural Sciences at Altınbaş University meet with the realities of the business world and meet with the leading academicians and professionals in the field and gain from their experience. For this purpose, the courses are taught in the areas of basic mathematics and science, probability and statistics, optimization, simulation, random modeling, production planning, manufacturing methods, quality, supply chains, service systems and engineering economics. Courses are supported by modern educational tools. We plan to obtain accreditation for Engineering Education Programs Assessment and Accreditation (MÜDEK) in 2019. As of 2016-2017, education and research activities are being carried out by 1 associate professor, 3 assistant professors and 1 research assistant. The Department of Industrial Engineering; with its qualified and experienced academic and technical staff and research facilities serves the public at large in cooperation with public and private sector organizations in local, regional, national and international scale.

Occupational Profiles of Graduates With Examples

The graduates of this program work as industrial engineers in the public and the private sectors. The graduates of this program are equipped with fundamental and technical knowledge and communication skills, foreign language skills, teamwork skills in order to be able to work in these areas. The program graduates have so far been employed in companies such as DeFacto, Colin’s, Burgan Bank and Maya Plastik.

Students who graduate from this program may apply for studying in programs at graduate level.

In order to graduate from this program, the student must successfully complete all courses. This degree is awarded to students who successfully completed all the courses in the program, two summer internships for 40 days total work days, capstone projects in their senior year, and earned a minimum of 240 ECTS credits with a GPA of at least 2.00 out of 4.00.

Facilities

Students of the Industrial Engineering Undergraduate Program may benefit from Physics, Electrical and Electronics as well as Computer Laboratories used by all departments of the School of Engineering and Natural Sciences. Also, optimization and ergonomics and work study labs can be used by students for projects and R&D.
